Fluorite is a halide mineral comprised of calcium and fluorine elements. It is formed in hydrothermal veins with metal ores, or more rarely in limestone fractures and dolomites. Some fluorite pieces contain impurities of yttrium europium or samarium, giving it a rare ability to fluoresce under UV light.
